Biography
of Mark Sherren
After
graduating from the University of South Florida with a BA
in Business Administration, Mark entered the US Army where
he was asked to join a special performance group for the
Commanding General of the US Army Infantry School. Selecting
from the soldiers stationed at Ft Benning, GA, Mark was
able to recruit and launch an award winning mens chorus
which performed for many international military leaders
and heads of state. For his work, he was awarded a special
commendation from the US Army Chief of Staff.
After
a time at Walt Disney World as a staff musician, Mark joined
a major financial services company to form a start up sales
organization in Orlando Florida. From nothing, Mark grew
his team to the leading sales organization in the region
in three years.
Mark
then joined the faculty of a nationwide management development
institution and was responsible for the recruitment and
training of sales managers throughout the nation. He co-authored
new training curricula and served on the compensation committee.
During this time, Mark became noted as a motivational speaker,
and addressed many large and small groups. He was awarded
the Corporate Recruiter of the Year trophy by National Recruiters,
a peer association, and received a letter of commendation
from the US Army for working with Junior Military Officers
in post military career transitioning.
After
taking early retirement in 2000, Mark co-founded Covenant
Consultant Group with Joe Weatherly. Among other things,
CCG provided strategic planning and tactical solutions for
organizational problems for its clients.
In 2002,
Mark, Tom Lutz, and Joe Weatherly decided to join forces
to enhance both the scope and impact of their efforts to
assist visionary leaders in creating plans to advance their
visions.
Mark
is active in Kiwanis International, and he has been a committed
layperson involved in Kingdom building through his church
for the past twenty years. A SARA award recipient, he has
also been actively involved in the music ministry of the
church, providing leadership for numerous musical productions
for holiday worship services.
Mark
resides with his wife of 31 years, Ibis and three grown
children in Asheville, North Carolina.
